Style Options for Work and Around Town

(This is a guest post thanks to the fabulous Kaki Read – Fashion Coordinator at Warby Parker)

Dressing for work or play can be stressful, but it does not need to be. With the right balance of basics and statement pieces in your wardrobe, you will always be able to find the right looks for any occasion. By choosing reliable staples that are versatile and fill in the gaps, you can create looks that will keep you fresh and modern from the cubicle to the city.

Dressing for the office does not have to mean sacrificing your sense of style. In fact, a little originality often goes a long way for your confidence and point of view. However, it is important that you remember not to shirk professionalism for personality. Think well-tailored pieces in sturdy fabrics. Opt for classic shapes when it comes to clothing and feel free to get more adventurous with accessories. Office gear is all about polish. Why not choose a shift dress that is flattering without being too flashy?  Pair it with stylish and comfortable Oxford pumps, and then layer on a statement necklace or a bold bracelet – as the jewelry will add some much-needed punch. Top it off with a structured leather purse and a pair of vintage-inspired eyeglasses for a smart business casual look.

If you are heading outdoors for some daytime fun, your clothing objective should focus on comfort. No one wants to be the one hobbling in high heels on a hiking trail. To avoid a major misstep, stick to a weekend uniform of oversized knits, fitted leggings, and over-the-knee boots.  Sturdy shoes are a must when you might be on your feet all day and layers are always key for outdoor excursions, this way you can always add or subtract.  Think a pretty camisole under a wool cardigan. Keep accessories small, like a cluster of charming rings or a tiny charm necklace. Don't forget a pair of bold sunglasses from Warby Parker to protect your eyes from those harmful rays.
