Blue dress, three ways

Reworking my closet again, this time with one of my favorite dresses.  With a silky feel and a flowy fit, I always feel like a lady in this lovely little frock.  Lately I have taken this dress from the office, to date night, and to the farmer's market.  Although it is made of a thin material, it still works perfectly for any cool fall weather with a few little layers on top.  See below for details on how I reworked this dress for three different occasions, and also see how I wore this dress here.

Green suede shoes, three ways

Sometimes slipping on your favorite pair of shoes can make any day, event or moment that much more fun.  And really, when we are wearing something that we love, it shows in our demeanor and level of confidence, right?  Lately I have totally been loving my green suede shoes from Target- the heel is a nice height, they are so comfortable to wear, and the metallic cap toe is such a nice feature.  These are sold out now, but you can find a similar pair here.  I just love mixing, matching, and reusing items from my closet- don't you?

One skirt, three ways

One of my favorite closet challenges to present to myself is to rework one item into several different outfits for different occasion or with different styles.  This is one of my favorite ways to 'shop my closet' and create some new excitement about pieces that have been hanging around for a while.  Today I have taken a fun patterned pencil skirt and reworked it with three different styles that would all work well for separate occasion- the boho look for lunch with girlfriends, the preppy look for the office, and the glam look for a summer wedding or evening soiree.  Do you like reworking the current items in your closet? Spring Style: Stella & Dot Statement Necklaces

This statement necklace in green is the perfect piece for 2013- emerald is the color of the year, and shades of green in the fashion world are now seen everywhere!  This necklace works great over both prints and plain tops, and is definitely the best necklace to wear when you want to get kind compliments all day long!

The Stella & Dot Fiona Bib necklace

The Fiona Bib is a slightly glamourous, totally striking, yet not loud and demanding statement necklace.  It pops against black, adds the perfect dose of fun to white and cream, and is a dream to wear with animal print.  The fun aspect of this necklace is not only in the big smile it can bring to your face, but also its versatility- you can wear it facing out, so that the sparkling glass stones face out (easy way to add a splash of fancy to your outfit!), or you can wear it with the sparkle facing toward you, so that all that shoes is the beautiful ivory bezel detail.

The 3P man does not usually love me in long necklaces, but the first time he saw me wearing this Kimberly necklace, he gave me the sweetest compliment.  And guess what?  He likes this long necklace even more when I wear it over prints! Florals, stripes, spots, you name it- the Kimberly goes with it all.  And yes, it is also a great statement piece with solid colors.  Because of its length, it is totally appropriate to wear dangly earrings with the Kimberly.  Work day or fancy dinner, this is a great necklace to have in your collection!

The Stella & Dot Maldives necklace

With loads of my favorite colors (blue, aqua, green, and gold), this Maldives necklace is basically my all-time favorite necklace.  Seriously, it is definitely a good day whenever I don this beauty.  And it is not heavy at all, which means wearing it at the office and then taking it out to an evening event is totally doable.  Dressed up or down, this stunning piece makes a statement all on its own against plain colors, but is so inspiring and fun to pair with prints.  You can also easily extend this necklace with the handy Christina bracelet, to make yourself a longer statement piece.  So fun to wear in the spring, and this will definitely be an ideal necklace in summer as well.

One of my favorite things to do is remix items in my closet to create totally different looks with the same items.  Typically, I try to always to remix the 'next' time I wear something I know I have recently worn, and I find this inspiring as I never really want to wear the same thing over and over.  Today I am happy to share three different looks, for three different occasions, with one single dress- and this is my first actual peplum look featured on the blog!  Thankfully accessories make a huge difference in how an item of clothing can be styled, and the accessories I wore with this dress provide the perfect example of this concept.  You can see different ways I have remixed other items from my closet here: 1, 2, 3.  If this post encourages you to remix some items from your wardrobe for different occasions, let me know!

One skirt, three ways

I love remixing my wardrobe pieces to make me feel like I have an outfit for every occasion.  Today, I  am happily sharing three different outfits I created with one skirt, which will work for three separate kinds of daily activities- work, date night, and weekend brunch.  The other excellent benefit of wearing one item with different pieces is that you can easily transition from activity to activity- for example, work to date night, or business meeting to dinner with friends.  Also, accessories can play a great role for defining an outfit- in the pictures below, I used simple jewelry for the work outfit, piled on bracelets for the date outfit, and styled fun pieces for the brunch style.  Tell me, do you love mixing items in your closet to create new outfits with the same pieces?
