Autumn living room update

When seasons change, so do my decoration inspirations and preferences.  Perhaps this late arrival of autumn in California is the reason it has taken me so long to get the fall decorations set out around the 3P space!  But now that the last day of October is here, autumn decorations are finally here. The recent cooler nights recently definitely inspired me to create a more cozy living room for relaxing and enjoying candlelight, hot cider, and the occasional fire in the fireplace.  Thanks to the ever-fabulous Target, with cute little details I already had on hand, this autumn makeover came together in a cinch!  So without further ado, here is  this newly decorated space I am totally enjoying for fall.

Have a safe and happy Halloween, and enjoy all kinds of sweet treats!

Four dresses for fall

A little more wardrobe re-working is up on this 3P blog again!  I love to reuse items from my closets to keep them up-to-date, and today I am sharing four summer dresses I have reworked for fall.  All of these dresses are short-sleeved or sleeveless, and I have said it before but will say it again: layering is key, lovelies!  This goes for any day you expect to be in different climates (outside versus a warm indoors), and is also an excellent concept to use when traveling anywhere (anyone else ever wrapped themselves up in a scarf while on a flight?).  When autumn days are not very chilly, I think open-toed shoes are still wearable- however, on a chilly gray stormy day, covered toes are a must!  Also, know that lightweight to medium-weight jackets are a great fall investment, as they will be ideal for layering and carrying that summer wardrobe of yours into fall.

Three must-do fall trends

New seasons always bring new trends and I love to mix up what I have in my closet to reinterpret current trends, with perhaps a shopping trip or two (or three) on the side.  Today I am dishing on three major fall trends that are easy to emulate- all three of these fit very naturally with the fall season and autumn days, so use today's post as inspiration to grab something from your closet, or add to your fall shopping list.  Style on, 3P pretties!

Wonders from the weekend

< Fall leaves by the Carnegie library in my little town >

Well hello there Monday- I hope you fly by as fast as this past weekend did!  As I write this, the first fall storm is headed into my little neck of the woods and I can't wait.  The 80-degree sunshine that we enjoyed all weekend has been great and made for an enjoyable few days of fall activities, but I am so happy for autumn to officially arrive.  October has been such a busy month with many projects and places to travel to, so it is no surprise that it has flown by- now, bring on the trick-or-treaters this week!

Make this week a great week, 3P style!

Desire or Acquire

Today marks the beginning of a new series here on the 3P blog- Desire or Acquire! While I am inspired by runway designs and high-end labels, my goal is to stay within a reasonable budget anytime I am making a purchase for myself.  Here I am sharing three fall items I am looking to add to my closet- a blue animal print dress, some amazing black wedge boots, and a great cobalt bag.  While the designer items pictured below would definitely be in my dream closet, I am happy to share the similar items I have found with budget-friendly ticket prices.  So go ahead, desire all those designer pieces, and acquire inspired items at great prices!

Blue dress, three ways

Reworking my closet again, this time with one of my favorite dresses.  With a silky feel and a flowy fit, I always feel like a lady in this lovely little frock.  Lately I have taken this dress from the office, to date night, and to the farmer's market.  Although it is made of a thin material, it still works perfectly for any cool fall weather with a few little layers on top.  See below for details on how I reworked this dress for three different occasions, and also see how I wore this dress here.

Kim Kardashian's engagement ring

Thought this might be nice as a little afternoon pickup today... Now that many of us have heard about Kim and Kanye's engagement, the time for focusing on bling is here.  My only hope is that this couple will stay madly in love and continue to develop their relationship, no matter the size of the ice skating rink on her left hand!  Only time will tell on this one (I am sure that E News will keep us updated,) but in the meantime here are some fairly affordable ice skating rinks for your own hands.  Any cocktail paired with a killer cocktail ring is just that much better, right?

My October Birchbox

I always do a little jump of joy when my Birchbox arrives in my mailbox each month.  As an adult, anything in your mailbox that is not a bill is rather exciting, right? The samples Birchbox has been sending my way have gotten better and better, and are always appropriate for the season.  The cooler fall mornings and evenings around here have dried out my skin, and lo and behold moisturizers galore arrived in this Birchbox shipment just in time!  Looking for your own chance at this beauty shipment for yourself?  You can click here and sign up today- as a 3P follower, I'm sure you'll love this beauty delivery just as much as I do!

< Each month the Birchbox team lets you in on their latest obsessions in their Beauty Buzz >

< A little like Christmas morning for my beauty drawer >

< I'm looking forward to using this two-step cleanser to purify and exfoliate after a long week- the muslin cloth will help provide a nice polish, too >

< This newly developed Chap Stick Hydration Lock will be in my purse all fall and winter, and the Aqua Lacquer Pop will color my lips without stickiness, which will be perfect for a windy day >

PS- I am crazy with joy over the delightful scent of Folle de Joie in this box!

Wonders from the weekend

Escapes, getaways, road trips, and wanderings were what this past weekend were all about.  We saw much of our beloved Northern California scenes and reveled in the warm glory of this non-autumn weather we are still experiencing.  I also had my fair share of desserts, which I will blame on the sugar-crazed month that this is due to all the Halloween candy that is out there!  So now, it's back to the grindstone.  Have a great Monday, and make this an amazing week, 3P style!!

Cobalt Crush

As a girl who loves blue, I couldn't be more pleased that cobalt is one of fall's hottest hues.  This vibrant  color can be seen on everything from coats to clutches, and even an evening's smokey eye.  When styling an outfit, try pairing this blue with cranberry, grey, marigold, and even animal print.  Click below for some great buys in this hot peacock color, and let me know if you have any great cobalt finds for your fall wardrobe!
