4 pins for Friday

< Christmas decorations are some of my favorites!  Find these pins here >

With the last day of November upon us (TGIF, and where did November go??), I am so looking forward to this upcoming Christmas season.  Busy will be the summary of each day between now and the end of the year, but it really is the most wonderful time of the year!  I have made some very exciting progress on Christmas decorations the past few days, and I cannot wait to share those with you!  And as I am always looking for new ideas, Pinterest is a great resource- I will once again be hanging my ornament couples together on the tree, and will also have to try my hand at some reindeer glitter art, some simple winter greenery added to a candle, and the addition of cranberries to a Mason jar.  I will be so very happy to finish my home decorations soon, and will also be so happy to help any one else who is excited to decorate around their space!

Have a great weekend, 3P style, and I will see you back here on Monday!

Thinking of thanks

< Loved the golden hued linens for our Thanksgiving meal! >

Here is one last post about Thanksgiving this year- I just have to share some of what the day looked like, because I am so happy about it!  We hosted 22 people (a combination of family from both sides, and friends), and had one of the greatest days ever.  Because of all the help I had before that day, and during that day (thanks, wonderful helpers!), everything went smoothly and came off without a hitch!  We rented a few extra tables, cleared out the largest room in our house to accommodate for seating, were lucky enough to have some kind friends loan us beautiful linens, and took advantage off all the fall decorations which were already up to provide a Thanksgiving ambience.  Due to the number of dishes we might have used that day, we opted for recyclable paper plates with lovely little autumn theme- there was quite the hunt for these one day, but luckily we found enough of them!  We had the turkey brining for 2 days before the meal, and it was really one of the best tasting turkeys we have had in a while.  The food was all set up buffet-style in our kitchen (which my hostess brain failed to take a picture of!) but this made for a good traffic flow for all 22 guests, and we served dessert separately in the dining room.  House tours were given, corn hole competitions were enjoyed in the beautiful sunshine, everyone had their fill after the turkey meal, and there were really not too many leftovers at the end of it all!  It was such a great day, and the memories we made that day, plus the photos that were snapped, are going to be treasured.

Wonders from the weekend

< Our Thanksgiving dinner centerpiece >

Happy Monday, 3P pretties!  This past long weekend was a wonderful one- we hosted a great Thanksgiving (if I do say so myself) for 22, enjoyed a weekend at home (which is quite a rarity for us!), got a little Christmas shopping done, had an amazing Friendsgiving dinner with great friends, started decorating for Christmas, and made progress on so many projects around the house.  I cannot believe that the last week of November is upon us, but this will kick off a fun and busy season through the end of this year.  Time to start wrapping presents and planning festive outfits!

This week is jam-packed, and I am sure it is the same for many of you.  Whatever we are all up to, let's make it a great one!

< Gathered all the fall decorations up in preparation for Christmas decor! >

Happy Thanksgiving!

< A peek at our handmade Thanksgiving decorations >

It is with so much joy that I write this post, because there is much to be thankful for.  My amazing, supportive best friend in life, who I am lucky enough to call my husband.  Family who has been there through thick and thin, and who have been so wonderful to help mold me into the woman I am today.  The good Lord above, for without Him I would be lost.  Dear friends near and far, who are like sisters with their love and are the best partners in crime.  My wonderful 3P supporters, whom I adore and who are the best blogging encouragement team ever.  A roof over my head, pumpkin pie in my tummy, and gold shoes on my feet.  Laughter, smiles, chocolate, and travel.  Life is so good, and I am ever so thankful.  Wherever you are celebrating today, I hope your heart is filled with this same sense of giddy thankfulness.  Enjoy your long holiday, and I will see you back here next week!

Summer dresses working for fall

< summer version with a light vest, sweater, jacket, and close-toed heels for fall >

I love repurposing items in my closet for new styles, new outfits, and new seasons.  This usually helps me feel like I have a brand new piece of clothing, and I love knowing that it is possible to make your wardrobe work throughout the year.  My key?  Layering on during cold weather, and minimizing layers when the heat strikes! Since I have received a few compliments on dresses I have worn recently, I thought it would be fun to share how I have made a few totally summery dresses work for fall.  Basically, as I will repeat: layer!  It's all about sweaters, vests, and scarves, and a light jacket or two to make a summer dress ideal for fall.  Case in point: the dresses in this post!  Do you ever wear summer dresses in the fall and dress them up for the colder days?

< lightweight dress for warm weather, sweater and booties added for a fall outfit >

< light flowy dress for summer, warm layers and boots added for a fall day >

< sleeveless for summer heat, warm jacket and short boots added for fall >

< plain lady in red  for summer, layers and layers for a rainy fall day >

< chill summer look for a weekend adventure, sweater, faux fur vest, and boots added for a chilly day >

Homemade hand scrub DIY

I really love me an easy DIY!  With the holiday season right around the corner, I knew I needed to have a few things on hand for hostess gifts, little treats for friends, and that sort of thing.  When I came across the idea of a homemade hand scrub, I hopped right to making it!  This will be a perfect little last minute gift for any woman, and will definitely be a great way to keep one's hands moisturized in these colder months with drier air.  Basically, I started with one quarter cup of sugar per little jar, and then mixed in half of the bottle of Dawn Olay Hand Renewal soap.  I added more sugar as I mixed everything together, until I had a 'scrub' consistency.  You definitely do not want this to be runny!  Then I filled each jar with the mixture, added a cute bow and a label, and was done!  I made one for myself, and have really been loving this little homemade luxury scrub!

One friend I already shared one of these with is going to give me a recipe for a DIY peppermint hand scrub, so keep an eye out for a future post on that Christmastime DIY!

< gathered materials: mason jars, white sugar, Dawn Olay soap, a mixing bowl, measuring cup, and something to stir with >

< adding the soap: eye about half a bottle, and start with 2  1/2 cups sugar for 10 small mason jars >

< once the sugar and soap were at the right consistency, I filled the jars up >

Wonders from the weekend

< I spotted super stylish Starbucks supplies! >

Happy Monday, 3P pretties!  My weekend fleeeeew by (and I am sure all of yours did too), but it was filled with beautiful fall days, very productive progress on quite a few projects, fun times with great friends, and hours of volunteering with wonderful people. Here are just a few snapshots from this weekend while I was out and about, for you to enjoy. Yes, I am glad that this is going to be a short week, but boy-oh-boy is it going to be a busy one!  So much to be thankful for though, and I will definitely be focusing on that all week.  I am so excited to cook a traditional turkey later this week, and get started with Christmas shopping!

< love the girls I get to work with in this organization! >

< beautiful fall colors FINALLY popping up around my neighborhood >

< delicious cupcakes from a local bakery, which disappeared so quickly during a little birthday time >

Obsessed: turkey tablescape

Happy Friday, 3P wonderfuls! Long week but good week pretty much describes the past few days. As Thanksgiving approaches, it is slowly sinking into my mind that not only does this meal have to be planned and made, but that there is also a race to the end if this year fast approaching. However, first things first: Thanksgiving tables. I pretty much know how our Thanksgiving day decorations will be displayed, but I am keeping that a secret until next week. Instead, I bring you 4 tablescapes, with which I am obsessed- the fall themes with feathers and leaves- how can you go wrong? And not to mention the orange candles and the soft glow they create when lit on a dark night.

Have a great weekend, 3P style, and I will see you back here next week!

The ABCs of faux fur vests

Layers are my favorite way to stay warm in cold weather, and what layer is more fun that a (faux) fur vest?  As you may have noticed in this post, I love me a fur-like vest in any color!  And what inspired this post?  The day I wore one of my favorite faux fur vests, and a good friend let me know she was obsessed with it.  So here you have it, an ABC assortment of several different color options for faux fur vests, all under $75!  What a cozy bargain!
