Wonders from the weekend

This past weekend flew by, just like every weekend seems to do these days!  Time was enjoyed watching fall sunsets, making great memories with special people in our lives, celebrating a few birthdays, and enjoying delicious food.  It is hard to believe that September is already coming to an end, but the last few months of this year are going to be amazing- I just know it!  I am looking forward to all the wonderful things that October always holds- time for scarves and sweaters, hot apple cider, pumpkin carving, hearty soups, and the crunch of autumn leaves.  Whatever you are facing this week, make it a great one, 3P style- and have a fabulous start to October!

Mad for plaid

With all of the fall inspiration included in this week's 3P posts, I am definitely excited to share my love of plaid prints!  Plaid is the perfect way to hone in on a fall or winter vibe, and will always provide a classically chic look.  My Scottish heritage might be one of the reasons I love a good plaid, but with so many seriously great plaids out there this fall thanks to the "borrowed from the boys" looks which are so popular this season, this pattern is definitely one to embrace this season!

Green wedding things

Back in high school, my best friends and I all chose our favorite colors, and these colors have all been seen in each of our weddings.  For my best friend's wedding last weekend, she highlighted 'her color' (aka, green) in much of her wedding details, including the sweet gifts she shared with us bridesmaids.  Here's a peek at my wonderful new M bag that is going to be very useful, my new favorite green heels that have received so many compliments already, and some sparkly cascading earrings that I will always cherish.  And the reason this post is perfect for today??  It's my best friend's birthday!  Happy Birthday to you, BFF! (And thanks for all of these green goodies!)

Remembering 9/11

A moment of somber respect in honor of all those who gave so much in the horrific events on 9/11/01.  May we always remember how we came together as a nation to pull through that loss, and may God always Bless America.

DIY egg carton garland

< supplies: 18-pack egg cartons, scissors, raphia, and spray paint (not pictured: glitter and glue gun) >

Making a little DIY gift for someone close to your heart is probably one of the most thoughtful kind of presents your can give.  This past weekend, full of celebrations for my best friend and her new husband, was filled with thoughtful little details every moment.  I knew I would be hosting my best friend one night before her wedding and wanted to add a few personal touches to highlight her special day and how treasured her friendship is.  A few years ago, she and I spied the neatest garland in an Anthropologie window display, and I knew I wanted to replicate that idea to decorate my space when my best friend stayed over.  So I saved up some egg cartons, gathered a selection of spray paint, tossed in a little glitter for fun, and whipped up this recycled DIY garland.  Thankfully, the time that was put in to this little project paid off, and the egg carton garland was a hit!

< to make the 'blossoms,' cut the center row from the 18-pack egg carton and use the middle 5 pieces- these will all have 4 corner points and will provide the look of a 'blossom' >

< spray paint your 'blossoms' in your desired colors- I added a little glitter in the center of each blossom  to give a subtle hint of sparkle >

< cut each section of egg carton rows into individual pieces- these are the egg crate blossoms for your garland!  Use hot glue to attach the blossoms to your raphia (twine or string will also work) >

< hang your DIY egg carton garland for all to enjoy! >

Wonders from the weekend

This past weekend was jam packed with fun times and some of the best memories ever. I was so honored to be a part of all of those times as a bridesmaid supporting my best friend during her fabulous wedding festivities. My heart is still so happy from those celebratory days, and I know my BFF and her husband are going to have a wonderful life together. It's time to get back in action this week, but pardon my 3P brain still on a high from all of the happiness I got to experience during this past wedding weekend!
