DIY jewelry case

< Lovely little, very simple, totally cheerful DIY jewelry travel case >

Oh Thursday, I am glad that you are finally here.  As an official "Weekender" (as dubbed by great friends), I really cannot wait for every weekend and the adventures that those days will bring, near and far.  When many of our "Weekender" weekends are filled with travel, I often find myself tossing jewelry haphazardly into this bag and that as we head out the door for an overnight trip somewhere.  No longer will this be the case.  Enter the creative repurposing, Martha side of myself: take an old box (in this case it was a plastic Crest Whitestrips container), decorate it 3P style, and then love it to bits.  Yes, this very simple DIY jewelry case will now get to come on many adventures with me.  Thank you cardboard, contact paper, Crest case, and creativity!

< Supplies for this DIY were not very demanding: an old box/case, contact paper in my favorite chevron pattern, an empty egg crate, and some sharp scissors >

< After applying contact paper to the lid and the bottom sides, I decided to add a little of this fun pattern to the insides >

< I pictured little egg crates as the perfect divider to fit in this little box, and boy are they! >

< Here we go: blue and gold jewelry all packed up and ready to go! >

My Birchbox: February

< Love this packaging- so simple, and so likeable! >

It's always a fun day when Birchbox arrives in my mailbox! As this is only my second shipment, I am still happily trying this out- but how sweet it is to try new beauty samples without having to go anywhere.  The theme for this month's shipment is 'red carpet ready,' which is in perfect timing with this month's award season (the Academy Award excitement, anyone?)  Read on to see what little surprises were in my Birchbox shipment this month...

< The contents: Rockaholic flexible hairspray, Couture La La scent by Juicy Couture, A Ghirardelli chocolate and caramel square, Dr. Lipp original nipple balm for lips, and the Balm cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer powder >

< Mary-Lou Manizer powder by theBalm can be used as am eyeshadow, highligher, and all-over shimmer- talk about versatility.  I think I am going to love this >

< I can't resist a sweet scent, and this Couture La La sample has me wanting to use this perfume every day.  The cold winter weather has left my lips feeling rather chapped these days, so I am looking forward to seeing what good this balm by Dr. Lipps can do.  And I always love me a good hairspray, so I will happily try this Rockaholic spray out, and use it as the perfect carry-on if my hair loves it! >

2013 Oscars Trends

Did you catch some of the beautiful red carpet fashion from yesterday's Oscars ceremony?  The 2013 red carpet for the 85th Academy Awards last night was full of sparkle, color, and beaming stars last night.  To be honest, I didn't watch much of the actual ceremony last night- save the James Bond 50 year presentation, and the best film award.  However, I am fairly pleased to read the award results from last night, and now I have a few must-see movies to add to my list (Argo, Life of Pi, anyone?).  But as you 3P readers know, red carpet fashion is pretty much my favorite part of any awards show.  Here I have broken down several trends from the 2013 Oscars, and provided some options for shopping the looks!

< All that glitters: sparkly metallics on beauties Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, and Naomi Watts >

Shop the trend:

< Hues of red, lavender, and coral on these A-listers: Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Garner, Kerry Washington, Maria Menounos, and Olivia Munn >

Shop the trend:

< Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jane Fonda, and Noamie Harris were last night's golden girls >

Shop the trend:

< Pale, pale pastels were seen on many stars yesterday, including Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Amy Adams, and Octavia Spencer >

Shop the trend:

< Blue-belles Reese Witherspoon, Quvenzhane Wallis, and Jennifer Hudson stunned in beautiful blue dresses >

Obsessed: London Fashion Week (LFW) favorites

< Luxurious leather looks from Burberry Prorsum >

Some more Fashion Week love on the blog today, this time from LFW.  With so many talented designers across the pond, it really makes me wish I was in Londontown once again.  The looks here were luxe, indulgent looking, and definitely pulled at my heartstrings.  I loved the leather looks, the animal print jackets, suits, and shiny embellishments seen on each runway.  I can't wait for these kinds of looks to be on the market later this year, but in the meantime, the cold winter days will have me putting looks together from my closet, inspired by my current obsessions from London Fashion Week!

Happy Friday all you 3P wonderfuls, have a great weekend, and see you back here next week!

Obsessed: NYFW Fall 2013

< Effortless, easy gilded romance at Tory Burch > (images)

Attending New York Fashion week (or any fashion week, really!)  is a life goal of mine.  I know that many bloggers, buyers, and higher-ups in the fashion world got to enjoy a crazy busy fashion week in New York the past few days, and thanks to the wonder of social media and live-streamed shows I was able to enjoy many of the debuted collections right from my own little computer screen.  I am so excited for all of the jewel tones, romantic looks, velvet creations, and opulent accessories that will be all the rage this coming fall- these styles are right up my alley!  In fact, if any cold gray days come my way in the next few weeks, I will be using the inspiration from some of my favorite runway looks to create my own street style outfit (you know where you can see that kind of 3P post).  Here is a roundup of just a few of my favorite looks from the NYFW Fall 2013 shows, which contains just a few looks with which I am slightly obsessed these days.

Have a great weekend, 3P style, and I will see you back here next week!

< Stunning rock-n-roll looks from the amazing Diane von Furstenberg... I want it all! > (images)

< Simply adoring all of the fabulous coats from Trina Turk's presentation > (images)

< Houndstooth and cobalt looks from Michael Kors- one of my favorite prints and colors! > (images)

< J.Crew had so many looks to swoon over- these three are some of my favorites.  The embellished collar on the jacket (left), and the pinks and pastels are just divine! > (images)

< Mr. Lauren nailed it (and got a well deserved standing ovation at the end of his show!)  Opulent romance was the theme in his designs, and how luxurious my fall wardrobe would be if only I could have one of each of his amazing looks from this show! > (images)

< And last but certainly not least, Mr. de la Renta once again presented a breathtaking show- the coats, the ladylike suits, and the incredible evening gowns are my dreams come true > (images)
